Consistency at management level is by far less obvious as it should be.

I have seen past and recent examples of managers with excellent “technical” skills yet suffering from inconsistency and at times total lack of vision.

Root cause of inconsistent management or lack of a clear vision is usually “panic” caused by unforeseen events, sudden issues, badly forecasted business and worse at times.

What happens is management to “top-down” change priorities, who does what and when, that way more or less moving away from the regular necessary tasks.

Strategy changes can also be a source of inconsistency even though they should occur seldom.

Whatever your inconsistency may be, and the background, make sure to communicate with quality in order to not de-focus from the necessary tasks and that way drive towards a cliff.
